From Farmer's Market Table to Canada's Snack Brand

In 2012, our founder Sheena Russell started making simple, nourishing snacks using ingredients she was picking up on her weekly farmers market visits in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Organic oats, local wildflower honey, dried fruit and even artisanal nut butters, all from small, family farmers and producers.

So when an opportunity came to sell these snacks at that same market, the name Made with Local was born. In the early days Sheena would sell 100 bars a weekend, sharing the stories of the farmers whose beautiful ingredients made these snacks exceptionally delicious and nutritious.

These early years at the farmers market shaped a profound connection with our local community of farmers and food producers, a bond that's continues to be the soul of our business. Our commitment is simple - ingredients that are organic, sustainable, and uncomplicated.

In our quest to serve you the best of Made in Canada foods, our products all start with a base of Regenerative Organic grown oats from the prairies - the most sustainably-grown oats available. We partner with many family-owned farms like the Ernst family of Terra Beata Cranberries, the Ysseldyk family with their organic honey, MacKellar Farm's pumpkin seeds, and 3-generation VanDyk's Wild Blueberries are all a testament to our ongoing commitment to sourcing close to home and supporting local.

By building an ecosystem of local, independent producers within our ingredients supply chains, we ensure our community thrives alongside us, generating a circle of symbiotic growth.
