The B Corporation Mission

The B (Benefit) Corporation community is global and represents almost 4,000 B Corp certified businesses that are working hard to be part of a movement to transform the global economy to benefit all people, communities, and the planet.

Certified B Corps are for profit businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. B Corps are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.

What Does this Look Like?

Being a B Corp means being a business with greater purpose, deeper values, real accountability and bigger impact. At Made with Local we live by those values every day and staying true to them is what guides all of our decision making. Being a B Corp means that as we grow, we're thinking about how each step, each decision, and our long-term vision aligns with our deep intention to enrich and strengthen our communities.

The Movement

Made with Local is Canada’s first B Corp certified snack food company and as such we feel a responsibility to re-write the script when it comes to what people expect from the companies that make their food. We make all of our snacks at social enterprise bakeries that employ people who are experiencing barriers to the mainstream workforce. Our shipping and distribution is also done through a social enterprise that provides work opportunities for adults with intellectual disabilities. As we've grown, so have these social enterprises and as a result they have been able to upgrade their facilities and equipment and expand their programs to employ more people. 

All of the amazing ingredients that go into our bars and granola bar mixes come from producers and suppliers in Canada, with many being just a stone's throw away from our home in Dartmouth, NS. Many of these suppliers have been with Made with Local since day one in 2012 and as such we have built up close and personal relationships with them. We are proud to bring you real ingredients from real people who we know by name. 

At the end of the day for Made with Local it comes down to making our business a force for good. We know that we make an impact every day in the lives of the people at our social enterprises, our producers and suppliers, and our customers who want to ensure that their hard earned dollars are making a difference.
