BAR MIX RECIPE | Honey & Tahini Protein Bites

BAR MIX RECIPE | Honey & Tahini Protein Bites

It's our first blog post of 2018 and it's a delicious one! This recipe is SO wonderful and it's been beyond exciting to see our Real Food Bar MIX landing in more stores, every week!

My dream is for households all around Canada to develop a ritual of preparing our Bar Mix for nourishing lunches for the week ahead. Creating a tradition of preparing snacks made with love & care, that can be shared with your children, friends & co-workers. It's starting to happen here in Halifax as our Real Food Bar MIX is quickly growing its own community of fans and we know in our guts that they're going to be something really special!

Some of my favourite things about our Real Food Bar MIX are that they're completely customizable based on your own dietary needs/preferences, including being nut-free. Hurray for an amazing lunch-box option for the kiddos! They also have a special place in my heart because every bag is brimming with direct-source Canadian-grown ingredients and are produced in partnership with Dartmouth, Nova Scotia-based social enterprise, DASC Industries. DASC employ folks in our community living with intellectual disabilities and we know that their clients put a HUGE dose of love into everything they do.

This recipe is geared more towards adults as it contains a plant-based protein boost, and is speaking to all my favourite foods like rich & floral local honey and creamy, nutty tahini. Feel free to play and tinker with this recipe and make it your own! It's forgiving and nourishing and easy-peasy to make. Can I get a hallelujah for low-maintenance foods that taste like self-care?

Honey & Tahini Protein Bites
.
small bag (or 3 cups) Granola Bar Mix
1/4 cup protein powder of choice (I chose plant based)
1/3 cup ground chia seeds (I used part ground, part whole)
1/4 cup flaked coconut
1/8th cup sesame seeds, toasted
1/4 cup ground flax seed
1/2 cup honey
3/4 cup tahini
1 tsp vanilla
Pinch of salt
Extra toasted sesame seeds, to coat
.
Combine all ingredients and blend well. Roll into log shape, wrap and refrigerate overnight. Cut into 24 even pieces, roll into balls and immediately (while still warm from your hands) roll in toasted sesame seeds. Store in fridge for up to one week.
Makes  24 bites, each bite contains approx. 5g protein
